Interior Design

We offer interior design services exclusively to clients who have appointed us for the architectural role for their project. By developing the architectural and interior elements together from the outset, we create a coherent vision and ensure that every decision supports the overall design intent.

Our interior design service focuses on the fixed and fitted elements that define the quality of a home - kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, joinery, woodwork and plasterwork details, flooring, tiles, ironmongery and lighting. These details shape the character, comfort and longevity of a building and require the same care and precision as the architecture itself.

Every decision is considered through the lens of proportion, light and materiality. Our process involves close collaboration with trusted craftspeople, joiners, lighting specialists and suppliers to ensure each space is refined, practical and beautifully made.

What does an Interior Designer do?

Interior Design Stages

  • STAGE 1: INTERIOR CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

The concept stage establishes the creative direction for the project. It begins during the initial feasibility and preliminary design phase, when we take a holistic approach that considers the architecture, interiors and garden design together.

At this stage, we explore materials, finishes and key design features through moodboards, sample palettes and outline layouts, defining how each space should feel and function.

Following the planning stage , the concept is developed in more depth, setting the tone for bathrooms, kitchens and joinery design, and ensuring that every element complements the architecture. It’s a collaborative process: we listen carefully to our clients’ aspirations, interpret them through our design language, and establish a clear visual identity for the home.

  • STAGE 2: DETAIL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Once the concept is approved, we move into the detailed design stage. This is where every fitted and fixed element of the interior is resolved, coordinated and documented for costing and construction.

We prepare layouts showing the arrangement of kitchens, bathrooms, joinery and lighting, establishing the design intent for each key interior space. Detailed drawings are produced for joinery, lighting and electrical layouts, along with comprehensive schedules for materials, fittings and finishes. These include tiles, sanitaryware, ironmongery, woodwork, decorative plasterwork, joinery materials and fixed lighting. Each specification is coordinated with suppliers and contractors to ensure accuracy, durability and buildability.

Where helpful, we can produce 3D models of rooms to illustrate how materials, finishes and detailing will come together. This can be offered as an additional service for clients who wish to visualise their spaces in greater depth.

At this stage, material samples and details are also finalised in collaboration with specialist makers, lighting designers where necessary, and suppliers to ensure the design intent is fully realised and technically robust.

The information produced forms part of the contract documents used for tendering and construction, enabling accurate pricing and seamless coordination on site. Decisions made here determine the quality and longevity of the finished interiors and are therefore developed with care, precision and technical rigour.

Design development continues alongside Stage 3, as drawings, specifications and material palettes are brought together into a cohesive and fully coordinated interior design package.

  • STAGE 3: VISUALISATION

To help clients understand and approve the design before it is built, we can prepare visual materials that communicate the atmosphere and detailing of the interiors.

Depending on the project, this may include 3D visualisations, rendered elevations or CGIs that illustrate how materials, lighting and bespoke joinery come together. These visual tools provide clarity and confidence, ensuring that everyone involved; client, contractor and craftspeople is aligned on the intended outcome.

  • STAGE 4: IMPLEMENTATION

The implementation stage is when the design is realised on site. We remain closely involved to support the contractor and ensure the design intent is clearly understood and properly interpreted.

Our role includes responding to queries, reviewing joinery shop drawings, and carrying out periodic inspections of key interior elements such as tiling, lighting and bespoke joinery installation. These visits allow us to monitor progress, review workmanship and advise where adjustments may be required to align with the agreed design.

We work collaboratively with the contractor and specialist trades throughout this stage, maintaining open communication and attention to detail so that the completed interiors reflect the quality and character of the approved design.
